Janie Gawrys

Vice President of Clinical Operations

Janie Gawrys, Vice President of Clinical Operations Janie Gawrys brings a wealth of expertise in health care leadership to her position as Vice President of Clinical Operations. Previously, she served as Deputy Operations Director at ACCESS.

As Vice President of Clinical Operations, Gawrys is responsible for providing leadership and management oversight of more than 50 health centers, for both clinical and fiscal management. During her tenure at ACCESS, Gawrys has helped plan, customize and implement the network’s electronic health record system (Epic) and developed the overall strategy for the five-year journey to a Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH).

Prior to joining ACCESS in 2007, Gawrys held three positions at The University of Chicago Hospitals (UCH), most recently as Director of Professional Development.

Gawrys also previously held the position of Coordinator of Clinical Services, Academic Appointment, at the University of Illinois Hospital’s Children’s Habilitation Clinic. Earlier in the her career, she worked at La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago, where she provided case management and rehabilitative nursing care on both inpatient and outpatient levels, and as Clinical Nurse Manager, Pediatrics, at Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois.

Gawrys’ leadership has been recognized most recently as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation 2011 Executive Nurse Fellow. She has also, among other things, been recognized with awards from UCMC: the 1999 Team of the Year: K.I.D.S. First Initiative, the 2006 Excellence in Leadership Award and the 2007 Friend of Nursing Award.

She holds Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nursing from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. In 2007, Gawrys was certified by the National Association for Healthcare Quality, CPHQ.
