Near South Region Health Education Fair

ACCESS recently held a Near South Region Health Education Fair, which featured free health screenings, food, fun and games. The event was held at ACCESS Grand Boulevard Family Health Center, located at 5401 S. Wentworth Ave.

The focus of the community event was diabetes and breast cancer awareness. The Illinois Eye Institute provided free screenings, and attendees also received blood pressure, blood glucose and HIV screenings. Various physicians and health care professionals from ACCESS and the University of Chicago Medical Center provided 15-minute overviews on hot medical topics such as diabetes, breast cancer, hypertension and heart disease, among others. This event was sponsored by Access Community Health Network and Novo-Nordisk. Other supporters include the Illinois Eye Institute, WellCare, the statewide Stand Against Cancer program, American Diabetes Association, Abbott, Bayer and Life Scan. ACCESS Grand Boulevard Family Health Center is an affiliated specialty center of the University of Chicago Medical Center.
