Childhood Literacy - Reach Out and Read

Previous
Program Description:

In addition to offering a full array of pediatric services, Access Community Health Network is committed to promoting early childhood literacy by incorporating education about the importance of early reading into pediatric health care visits through the Reach Out and Read program.

Who is eligible?
Children aged six months to five years old.

Services Provided:

ACCESS doctors talk to parents about the importance of early reading at each well child visit up to five years old. Then they will "write a prescription” for parents to read to their child several times a week. Children also get a brand new, age and language appropriate book at every well child visit up to five years old. By the time your child starts school, they will have developed a love for reading and have a small library of books to share with family and friends.

Cost:

Reach Out and Reach services are offered free of charge.
